Patio Repointing in Horley | Covering all Areas in Surrey and West Sussex Including Reigate

A garden patio, when kept in a good condition, will provide hours of outdoor social enjoyment for local and regional homeowners. When the mortar between the joints deteriorates due to weather exposure or to general wear and tear, it affects the installation’s appearance and compromises structural integrity. A patio repointing service helps a customer to revive condition without having to replace the surface.

I am an experienced tradesman and Dr. Paving is a family-run company.

I can offer a patio repointing service in my hometown of Horley, and in all surrounding Surrey and West Sussex areas to include Reigate.

If you own a patio that has been affected by failed mortar, or if an installation has been affected by weed growth, these are indications that the pointing is no longer doing its job. Once the mortar is in disrepair, it will also impact the surface by allowing the pavers to loosen, cracks to appear or water to penetrate. The longer you leave the pointing in a poor condition, the worse your patio will become.

Call me to arrange inspections, assessments or quotations. Dr. Paving can also offer concrete repairs or tarmac repairs as local services.

Paving installations have evolved over the years.

Some changes have been for the better, such as priming the slabs and the edging blocks before laying. However, in my opinion, contractors are using an easier, but not necessarily cheaper option, of jointing compounds rather than pointing with traditional sand/cement mixes.

Common options used include brush-in jointing compounds, or a resin-based product, that will have a short lifespan or attract the growth of moss. It is also common for compounds to be used incorrectly and, in wet conditions, they are not as durable as sand and cement mixes.

Finishing with jointing compound is usually carried out in a rush at the end of the job when the contractor wants to get paid rather than taking care, time or pride in finishing an installation as it should have been in the first place. I only use sand and cement mixes.

The Professional Patio Repointing Service

When undertaking patio repointing work, I can use professional-grade materials designed specifically for hard surfaces. These materials ensure a secure bond between the pavers to arrest water infiltration and weed growth, and also strengthen an installation’s surface area. For the best outcome, I will also advise you on the use of a sealant if a substrate is suitable, and I take on patio repairs of any kind.

I remove the failed jointing material and replace it, guaranteeing a more precise finish that is durable and designed to last for years.

When my company takes on patio repointing work in Horley, Reigate or the surrounding areas, you can feel confident that every detail will be overseen with care and that there will be as little disruption to a garden as possible. Ultimately, I save money on replacement costs.

Instead of letting failed mortar detract from the appearance of your outdoor space, my patio repointing service goes on to enhance it.

I can also advise you if you have had work undertaken by other local contractors who might have used a weak mix for the original pointing and a patio is in disrepair but the materials are inside warranty. A patio repointing service is ideal for anybody on a budget who wishes to revive the surface’s condition without having to replace in full.

A Trusted Installation and Repair Specialist

Recently, we have all become more aware of global warming.

This affects paving installations in a significant way. Even if your installation has been installed to current British Standards, ground movement is rising because climate-driven weather can accelerate the shrink-and-swell cycles normally found in clay-rich soil conditions.

Edgings pull away from driveways and paving as the ground shrinks or the patio slabs pop up or crack. With a new installation, I only lay slabs on a reinforced concrete slab foundation and only place edges on a similar concrete foundation that is then bedded with a slurry.

This explains why I am one of the only installers in Horley, Reigate and the surrounding areas to offer a reassuring 20-year warranty on new installations, although most of my work across Surrey and West Sussex centres on driveway repairs, patio repairs and paving repairs

There are plenty of self-proclaimed driveway specialists looking for work. Some have brand-new vehicles, and will often register to a so-called trade association claiming that this protects customers but, in reality, this is rarely the case. These companies often install a driveway, patio or a paving surface onto an inadequate sub-base.

Nothing can be done to remedy this apart from a new installation.

However, I can repurpose 90% of blocks laid if they are particularly expensive. If standard pavers have been used, I usually undertake a completely new installation because this can be more cost-effective.

The above-mentioned specialists never bed the edgings of surfaces on concrete, and only use a small cement haunch to make it appear as if the paving has been installed correctly so as to get paid. Strictly speaking, jobs like these would require a new installation. However, I understand many people cannot afford this. Most driveway companies would not touch these installations, but Dr. Paving will always offer advice, quotations and solutions that are within a proposed budget.

Having worked locally over many years as an installer, and an expert in concrete repairs, tarmac repairs and patio repointing, I am aware of these so-called specialists and know who they are. Most of these installers won't come to advise on repair works, and will only quote for a new installation. My company, Dr. Paving, can promise to do so.

My driveway company can always be trusted to do the right thing.

When receiving a written quotation, you will receive my ID/CRB check and certificate of liability insurance attached for peace at mind.
